New Year in English Football: The Possibility of Winning the League Title

I have begun this year with such a lovely way: it's raining here. I haven't wrote in my blog for a little bit long time, so I rather begin this new year with starting to write one of my favourite subject: football. As I have noticed early in December, balance in European football has shifted slowly from old big names to several blackhorses: most noticeably in England. The defending champion Manchester United is still behind their 'noisy' neighbour Manchester City, although their gap is finally balanced this month, after almost three month of five-point gap.

Interesting too see how if City can defend their lead until the end of the season
The defending champion proves they were still a bigger problem to tackle on

It's really interesting for me too see if City can defend their lead: seeing them winning the League would be very odd though, as their red neighbour had won it for so many times that I can't remember how many are their League trophy. But don't rule the other contender out of the game: Chelsea under Villas-Boas can still retain the lead, although for me they are a little bit unstable and seems not the perfect match to the League title this season.

Chelsea is too unstable this season
For me, the real deal for the League title this season between the Manchester duo is Arsenal, which improves well since their humiliating 8-2 defeat to United last September. Their teamwork and physique has increased rapidly; and the recent return of the King Thierry Henry would be a massive morale stimulant for their League struggle. Though for me seeing Arsenal winning the League is also pretty fishy; they are on two digits gap from City now and it seemed impossible for City to let them take the lead. But at least Arsenal can still have the place on Champions League zone.

Arsenal with Henry and van Persie will going to the Champions League this season
The other big names to count in League struggle, of course, Tottenham. I have noticed that they have been labeled as 'blackhorse' since five or six years ago. For me, they have proved themselves as giant in English football; they were on Champions League zone for the last few years and now is still on third place in League. I can say that now they are also the real contender for the title, with several stars like van der Vaart, Adebayor, Modric and Kranjcar. Though we must still wait for the result on the end of the season.

Tottenham is finding their way back to the top since losing it many years ago
After all these predictions, I still cannot say who will win the title in May, maybe in June. All we can do is waiting and see the results. For me it's cornered between Manchester Red and Blue this season. I hope City will win the League, for it's boring to see the red plague lifting the trophy year by year.
